  • Hi L.. I purchased the CARES safety harness for my son when he was 1. We have used it several times now to fly to Mexico to visit his family. It works great! I wouldn't dream of using anything else.

Overall, I would recommend the Kids Fly Safe CARES Airplane Safety Harness for the right family. It’s as safe as a CRS but exponentially easier to travel with! Unfortunately, due to Harrison’s motion sickness/sleepiness, I would write this off as a bust for our family. I think for most of you Wise Mama’s it would be a big hit.

  • The Kids Fly Safe CARES Airplane Safety Harness runs around $75 ( carries several CARES models, but they said this one was their best seller). There are government approved aviation car seats that run less than this (check out this post on ), or you can use a car seat you already own as an alternative. However, you usually have to purchase a travel bag or cart to get through the airport with your convertible carseat. So both options come in around the same price wise.

we have a 28 month old daughter who weighs 28 pounds – we are flying at Thanksgiving on a 4 hour flight – based on your experience would you bring the car seat or buy the CARES safety harness? also if we do neither what does the airline provided just the regular safety belt? thank you for your great site – just happened upon looking up information about headsets for toddlers and found you – unlike you we are stressed to the max about flying for the first time with our little one – ever since 2011 we hate flying ourselves – the extra security and the packed planes leave little to be desired! I have Pinned your site on Pinterest as I believe it to be invaluable

  • The Kids Fly Safe CARES Airplane Safety Harness is less than one pound and fits easily in a diaper bag. It was by far easier to carry through security, the airport, and through the actual airplane to our seat than our huge convertible car seat. We had Harrison in an umbrella stroller (which we gate checked) and kept the CARES Harness in my bag. I have never traveled so light before. It was amazing! Two HUGE thumbs up for convenience!

Kids Fly Safe CARES Airplane Safety Harness review • The Wise Baby

DT reader Darren and his gang are planning a trip to France and Switzerland soon, and he was considering putting his kid in a CARES Safety Harness--which is FAA-approved--rather than haul a freakin' car seat around the Alps on a train for two weeks.
