Researchers found that when elementary school students were offered apples and cookies with lunch, kids were more likely to opt for an apple when it was branded with an Elmo sticker.
The first lady cited a study published last Autumn in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in which researchers gave more than 200 boys and girls ages 8 to 11 the choice of eating an apple, a cookie or both. Most children chose the cookie. Asked to choose again after researchers put Elmo stickers on the apples, nearly double the number chose the fruit, she said.
Putting an Elmo sticker on the apples led 37 percent of kids to take fruit, the researchers reported this week in a letter to the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine.
If you need to find an Elmo gift, Fathead has the perfect wall decal gift that is a better choice than Elmo stickers or posters. There is a world of difference between an Elmo Fathead wall decal and a poster. Posters are boring, and they mess with your walls — tape, tacks, putty, rips. The same goes for Elmo stickers — they just don’t measure up. When someone opens their gift, you’ll hear their excitement and know the Elmo Fathead was the right choice.
