If you're cloth diapering your newborn using prefolds, flats, fitteds or contours, you'll also need to invest in some waterproof covers as well. When it comes to newborn diaper covers, some of the key features to look for are an umbilical cord cut-out, overlapping tabs for fastening and double gussets around the legs to hold in messy newborn poos.

  • With a hook and loop closure that overlaps, double gussets around the legs and an umbilical cord cut-out in the XS size, these diaper covers have all of the most important features you'll want in a newborn diaper cover. Made from 100% polyester with a urethane coating, they can also be wiped clean between uses and they have fold-over laundry tabs to prevent the covers from getting attached to other items in your wash.

A true newborn diaper cover that actually works to snap down for cord. it has two height adjustments for the cord dip, so you should be able to find a setting that actually works for your baby's cord. Fits well with Cloth-eez Prefolds size Orange Edge Newborn diapers or Preemie prefolds. It is a little cover so we don't recommend it over fitted diapers.

  • Does anyone know where I can get newborn diaper covers with applix and possibly double gussets? Also do you tried fold prefolds in them or ??? Links appreciated to any helpful info. I've only used pocket diapers before. Oh also don't want to spend $10 a cover.

Why don’t any of these have a snap down for the umbilical stump? I’m having the hardest time finding a newborn cover with a snap down. You would think that would be a no-brainer in a NEWBORN diaper cover. 🙁
