We’d love to hear what you prefer: percale or sateen?

Fold the percale through the center, with the woof, and baste the edges together.

  • I wasn't able to find just a flat sheet because my Husband ruined the other set's flat sheet so I will buy one at a store. That being said, we just moved to Northern FL and its been cold and warm here. I can see how the light weight of the percale sheets already for the summer time being a delight and the reviews and price was right.

Because the last sheets I ordered from Overstock were heavy, rough, supposed to be "sateen" but didn't feel like it and wrinkled every time they were washed. I was very dissatisfied with them and I'm donating them. I believe they were Egyptian cotton, 300 count, so I'm hoping the percale will be more comfortable. If not, I won't order from Overstock again.

  • I was looking for Percale sheets to help with the hot summer days, however the sheets were more stiff after washing than you would expect. Probably won't use them very often.

While the deep pockets (oversize)fits great on my pillowtop mattress the quality is poor. The percale is soft except for the areas where the weave defects are present. There are weave defects, that are eight and nine inches long, in the bottom sheet and one of the pillowcases. The color is much duller than the picture on the website. I will never again buy bedding online.

I have been looking for a good quality percale sheet because I do not like Egyptian Cotton that wrinkle so badly and are too soft for my taste. These sheets are not what I thought. They are the cheaper version of percale. Coarse and not crisp nor slick. The color is too bright. I will have to continue to search for good quality percale sheets and take good care of the ones I have.

A thread count of 180 or higher is considered Percale.

The word "percale" refers to the weave, not the content. So your percale sheets could be made out of anything: cotton, polyester or a blend. Cotton is by far the most popular fabric for percale, but since the weave is so dense, it can often lead to wrinkling. Manufacturers often introduce polyester or silk blends into the fabric to reduce wrinkling. If you prefer a certain kind of fabric, be sure to check the label before buying.
