Robinson and Dan Weisenbach struck a friendly wager: Whoever made it to their $5,000 fundraisinggoal last had to wear a purple tutu during a long training ride.
The 38 -member "Purple Tutu Society" is made up of his relatives, lifelong friends, friends of his three children, employees and customers of his recycling business (including onefrom Texas), doctors who treated him, cycling buddies, and even strangers who have heard the storyof Dan and the purple tutu.
"He's kind of a bigger guy, and it was just such a dichotomy to see someone like that wearing atutu," said Tim Hamburger, a friend and coach of Team in Training and the Purple Tutu Society. "Herode with that thing on for over four hours."
He is responsible, too, for the highly visible purple tutus worn in recent months by a band ofcyclists training for Pelotonia, the annual fundraiser for the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital atOhio State University.
